Sunday Drive

Yup, I went on a drive on Sunday.

Not as exciting  as other things, but I had a few things I wanted to do. Like testing out a new camera, and just getting out of my house of a while.

While I has out and about, I managed to lose the place I was looking for. But, I really didn't care. I was happy to drive one way, then the other, before deciding to venture off in a direction that I've never seen before.

The road I ended up on was a traveled single track dirt road, covered in snow, right off the side of HW 212. It had signs for a trail head and campground as well. (I want to come back in the summer and explore some more.)

I wanted to get to the  campground, because it was close to a the creek I wanted to get to. But luckily, I ran into a couple of other travelers. They told me the conditions at the campground. A closed gate with half a foot of snow. My truck dose have four wheel drive, and I do carry an avalanche shovel. But, I decided to continue passed.

This road, I did not catch the name of it, did not venture that far from the highway. But, the trees did block my view of the highway, leaving me with the feeling of 'being alone in the unknown'.

It was nice. And, the back drop of the Bear Tooth's only added to the effect.

The feeling ended when i drove passed the first house....

Anyway, the road the road ended north of the Rock Creek Resort, where  a bridge crossed over Rock Creek. I found a spot to park my truck, and got my new camera out to test.

The new camera is a Besteker camcorder (1080 at 30 frame per sec), with an added wide angle 4k lens. Note that only the lens is 4k. Meaning, the best that the camera can do is still 1080 at 30fps. Which is fine. My computer has fun editing 1080 at 60fps anyway.

(Apon reviewing the footage, I need to work on the focus. Also, I don't think I like 30fps. Sigh. Why are DSLR cameras so expensive.)

I took some 30s videos of the creek on different settings, with and without the lens. Then, because it was so fun the first time, I drove the road the other direction.

I plan on experimenting with the videos in my editing program. (DaVinci Resolve by Blackmagic Design. It's free to down load!). This is both to have fun, and to keep practicing my skills. There is so much the program can do, from color grading to other fun and exciting effects. (I'll leave a link bellow).

Well I guess that's it for now.

Talk to you later,
Yeti
